Huge congratulations to Team DQ who spent a glorious day last Sunday taking part in the Cockleshell Challenge held at Eastney Cruising Association - a race commemorating WW2 Cockleshell Heroes (Operation Frankton)
The race leaves Langstone Harbour out into the Solent, around Horse Sand Fort and back - between 7.2 and 9km a challenge at the best of times but even more so in Sunday's hot temperatures!
Our two teams both winning their classes - Seafox claiming first place in the Mixed Crew with Sharon, Jennifer, Andrew and James with Pete as cox whilst Firefly claimed First place in Miscellaneous Class with Nigel, Iain and Matt with Nikki as cox.Rowing being rowing (friendly and co-operative) Dell Quay members were also coxing Captain Tim's all ladies crew (Sarah Haig coxing them to fastest celtic) and Richard Bland in Sallyport (Solent Galley) who finished second in class.
Great work by you all, the constant training and effort you put in is paying dividends again!
Don't forget, rowing is not all racing and there are many opportunities to give it a go - its a great fun way to get on the water, enjoy the harbour with other members. More information is available on the 'Paddlesports' section of the website.
