Dinghy Sailing and Racing
The beautiful and half tide sheltered waters of Dell Quay Sailing Club are perfect for both dinghy cruising and dinghy racing whilst launching is simple, from the adjacent sheltered shingle slipway.
Dinghy racing at the Club varies from Fun Fridays, handicap races, pursuit races, youth racing and class racing to a high standard including open meetings and a Club Regatta throughout the year.
All dinghies are welcome to sail in the handicap fleet but we have vibrant groups of Solo's, RS 400's, and lots of single- handed boats including ILCA's, RS Aeros and other classes who race regularly.
Racing is organised every week in the Summer around high tides and an Open Frostbite series is run throughout the winter. Some races in the spring / summer venture down to the main harbour with long distance races - a favourite to stretch the legs of our keen racing fleet.
Dinghy sailing and Racing club sessions mainly take place south of the clubhouse with many starts and finishes from the clubhouse line, so families can watch their sailors in close action from the Dell Quay Jetty!
Dinghy cruising is accommodated with its own section and organised events are run throughout the year - but also many enjoy informal non club activities from the slipway!
The club owns a fleet of various size dinghies for hire so youth sailors and non-serious sailors can hire boats for the day to enjoy being on the water!
The Youth class captain and the sailing committee organises youth sailing and a Junior Week in August so there is safe dinghy sailing for even young juniors to sail and race in the harbour in very sheltered waters!
At the end of sailing, members boats are stored in our large dinghy park and the galley and bar are usually open after sailing sessions.
A pretty unique sailing venue enjoyed by all our long - term sailors and we always welcome new members.
