Rowing and Paddlesports Environmental Policy
As Rowers, kayakers and Paddle Boarders we have a very close relationship with the natural environment and wildlife which makes the harbour so special.
We are all aware of the issues which are threatening our natural environment and we are all aware that if we do something to help the environment every time we go out we can make a difference.
Litter - If you see litter please pick it up and dispose of it appropriately.
Wildlife - Please keep a respectful distance and abide by the Conservancy guidelines.
Vegetation - Please be careful not to damage the Sea Grass or other Saltmarsh vegetation which is a valuable part of the harbours natural biodiversity.
Pollution - Do not pollute the harbour, only use environmental boat cleaners and be very careful if using lubricants or other oil based products.
Water - Do not waste fresh water, use a bucket if possible and do not leave the hose running.
Reuse and recycle - Look at ways of recycling kit before throwing it away.
Lift share - Helps ease the parking congestion as well.
Water bottles - Please remember your reusable water bottle.
Invasive Species - If you have been away from the harbour please remember to wash the boat or paddleboard thoroughly to remove any risk of transferring an invasive plant or animal.
Finally - If you come across a large piece of debris which you cannot deal with, or a major pollution incident, please notify the Conservancy so that they can deal with it.
If you are interested in finding out more about how you can help protect our environment and wildlife please refer to the Chichester Harbour Conservancy website, or the Dell Quay Sailing Club website, which both contain more information on the subject.
