Dell Quay Frostbite 2024 Race 5 & 6
The Dell Quay Frostbite series had an extra exciting bonus on the 14th December.
Two trophy races - the Noyce Memorial Trophy and the consolation Trophy called the Herbert Ward were cancelled earlier in the season. It was decided to run these trophy races during the General Handicap Race 5 of the Frostbite Series.
The early morning start was nearly calm about 4knots of wind with some threatened sunshine.
After a briefing by the Race Officer Graham Dalton a short local course was set with an anticipation of the wind increasing but increases in wind did not materialise. Race 5 and the Trophy races started on time at 10.30 with 13 entrants and a slow race to finish after 2 laps.
The Juniors had 11 starters and after delayed start and sailed just 1 lap.
Race 6 started immediately, whilst the wind did not increase the ebb tide had started to flood out and so the race was shortened to make sure everyone finished.
Everyone including the 8 junior helms from Felpham sailing club enjoyed the "warmish" December weather and all sailors look forward to sailing the rest of the series after the New Year! A small pre-Christmas prize giving was enjoyed by some junior competitors.
Many thanks to the Race Team and the crews of the 3 patrol boats and the excellent and smiling galley staff serving hot soup and paninis
