National Solo Open
Open Meeting
30th May 2026
Detail of Solo Open roles:
Arrival Marshal - Lane
- Set out a sign at the turning of the Stockbridge Road into Dell Quay Lane, directing competitors to DQSC, then
- Stand at the entrance to the Dinghy Park, directing competitors down to the Club and making sure that nobody parks in the Dinghy Park unless: all boats wanting to come out of the DP have done so AND there is no more room in the lane.
- Helping people to park sensibly in the lane, if needed.
- Competitors' briefing is at 09:00 that morning, so the sign in (1) should be in place by 07:00. However, once all competitors have arrived (by 09:30) you are off duty and could go home.
Arrival Marshal - Barrier
- Stand by or near the barrier to the Quay, directing arrivals to take their boats and launching trolleys off their road trailers once inside the barrier, and leave these on the near end of the Quay (before getting to the Clubhouse). Then ask competitors to take the road trailer up to the far end of the Quay past the race box and leave it there. Then park their car back up the lane.
- Competitors' briefing is at 09:00 that morning, so you should be in place by 07:00. However, once all competitors have arrived (by 09:30) you are off duty and could go home.
Beachmaster
- Be on the Quay to make sure all competitors (including Club members) have been given a slip to attach to their trolley with their correct sail number written on it. (slips will be provided)
- To ensure these slips have been attached to all trolleys coming down to the slipway to launch.
- To assist competitors launching by helping remove their trolleys from the water's edge and to haul them up to the Quay while the competitor sails off.
- If any competitors retire early, while racing is still going on, to help identify that competitor's trolley by their sail number written on the slip attached to it, as they sail up to the slipway, and get their trolley down to the water's edge.
- As racing concludes and the fleet sails back to the Quay, to get all trolleys near the water's edge and help to match trolley to boat.
- Direct your assistant to help you in these tasks
- The duty starts at 07:15, when competitors can be expected to start arriving and ends when the last competitor is off the water. (Estimated to be around 15:30)
Assistant Beachmaster
- Help the Beachmaster to perform their duties.
